My designs for Linkage grew
from a desire to combine my passion for sculpture and painting
with a lifelong love of fashion. As an artist, I draw inspiration
from many things, which is reflected
in the diversity of the materials I choose to work with.
Often I use techniques such as sailors’
knots, that are not typically used in jewelry making. Many
of my pieces are created with a specific dress or outfit in mind
and I am frequently inspired by clothing
of the past and present. My goal is to always present something
that has not been seen before. When customers purchase my designs,
they feel the jewelry is as individual
as they are. It is very satisfying to know my work can help people
express themselves.

| Inspired
by Renaissance fashions, this necklace features cream ribbon
with black lacing and a gold-flecked quartz stone. $80 |
Beach glass is created as waves wash
over glass, rounding edges and imparting a frosted texture.
The process takes years; some pieces are over a hundred years
old. I picked this piece up myself on the shores of Lake Erie
and embellished it with wirework reminiscent of modernist
sculpture. Gold, sapphire and genuine pearls finish the look.

These stones are large and have very high florescence. They
hang with a pretty rosebud pearl, a drop of red chalcedony,
teal agate and a sterling wrapped piece of beach glass from
the shores of Puerto Rico. The sterling silver chain is a
diamond cut that really sparkles and is trimmed with 2 faceted
balls of teal agate. It measures a long 32" and is stunning.

The focal point of this design is an
Akoya pearl with a keishi tail. Akoya pearls are cultured
in Japan and China by inserting a bead into an oyster. To
reduce irritation, the oyster secretes a substance called
nacre, which it layers over the bead. The longer this process
is allowed to continue, the larger the pearl will be. Keishi
are solid nacre that occur as an accident of nature. They
can form alone or attached to pearls and are highly prized
for their unique shapes and superior luster. $95

This would go so perfectly with one of
Anna Sui's dresses that I named the necklace after her. Made
entirely of recycled vintage material, it includes a piece
of antique crystal from an old chandelier, circa 1920's, as
well as an artist made "stone" from the 70's. $75
