| Beach glass is created as waves wash over glass, rounding edges and imparting a frosted texture. The process takes years; some pieces are over a hundred years old. I picked this piece up myself on the shores of Lake Erie and embellished it with wirework reminiscent of modernist sculpture. Gold, sapphire and genuine pearls finish the look. | Gold vermeil circle with enclosed piece of white beach glass. Vermeil is a sterling silver base with a thick plating of gold. Often the gold is 18k or 24k because it does not have to be mixed, or alloyed, with other metals for strength.
